\DefineJournalAbbreviation{long title word}{abbreviation}
Adds an abbreviation to the list used for replacing title words.
- long title word: The long title word to be replaced (should start with a capitalized letter).
- abbreviation: The abbreviation used to replace the long word (should start with a capitalized letter).
\DefineJournalPartialAbbreviation{partial long title word}{abbreviation}
Adds a "partial abbreviation" to the list used for replacing title words. Partial abbreviations will match the beginning of a title word.
- partial long title word: The beginning of the long title word to be replaced (should start with a capitalized letter). All words where the beggining matches this parameter will be replaced.
- abbreviation: The abbreviation used to replace the long word (should start with a capitalized letter).
\DefineSpuriousJournalWord{spurious word}
Adds a blank "abbreviation" to the replacement list, these words are completely removed when replacements are performed.
- spurious word: The title word to remove for the abbreviated version.
\JournalTitle{title}
This command abbreviates the title of a journal, it should be integrated into the BibTeX stylesheet used by the document.
- title: The title of the journal to be abbreviated.
Custom Options
\usepackage[lang=Unix language]{jabbrv}
Changes the language for abbreviation replacements (defaults to English).
- Unix language: The language to use for replacements (using the Unix abbreviation, eg. "es" for Spanish).
\usepackage[noperiod]{jabbrv}
Disable displaying a period in the abbreviated form of a journal title.
\usepackage[warnundef]{jabbrv}
Display a warning for title words that do not have an abbreviation defined.
